I found out I was pregnant at 5 month and almost immediately found out I was having a girl.Toni had to be delivered 8 weeks early as she was not growing. I was taken to the RVI Newcastle and it was there I gave birth to Toni by C Section she weighed a slight 2lb 8 oz and was so beautifull.I looked at her and she scrunched her face up and I said to my mum who was my birthing partner she looked like my dad Anthony so we called her Toni. Within a couple of hours she went into cardiac arrest and I was asked if I wanted her baptized. We phoned a close family friend who is Newcastle city chaplaine and he came into perform the service.Despite all the odds Toni pulled through the 1st hurdle to be hit with another. at 2 wks we found out she had a rare genetic disorder called wolf herschorn syndrome. she still however got stronger and then she was transferred to Wansbeck special care unit at Ashingon Northumberland where she carried on fighting. Toni reached four weeks of age and started to tire. her brathing worsened and she ended up back on c pap a breathing machine. gradually she grew weeker and I was called in to the hospital on 15th May to be told there was nothing more could be done.we discussed bringin her home for her final days but it never happened. 1:30 that day she died in my arms weighing 4lb and age 5weeks 5 days.she was such a fighter and was loved by all who new about her. I took her home in her blanket and spent some time with her before the undertaker came for her. Toni was burried 1 week later surrounded by family friends and staff from the hospital. We raised £2000 Pound for the units and I am now in the process of organizing a charity event in Tonis memory. My one chilkd trgically stolen from me and I will always miss her.
